At the 3 Queen’s Palace on the Castle Island in Mirow, Dr Rajko Lippert today gave a lecture titled “the history of the Duchy”. The lecture was the first of three lectures on the legacy of the Duke’s of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. A further two lectures are to take place on the 3rd of March and the 21st of April. While in Glucksburg the funeral of Her Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duchess Karin of Mecklenburg-Schwerin also took place today. Her Royal Highness passed away on the 26th of January, which is also the anniversary of the death of the late head of the Grand Ducal House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Duke Georg Alexander. Hereditary Grand Duchess Karin was the widow of the late Hereditary Grand Duke Friedrich Franz, the godfather of His Highness Duke Borwin. After her remarriage to the Hereditary Grand Duke in 1977 Duke Borwin regularly saw her over the following years.
