On 26 October the Duke Borwin and Duchess Alice of Mecklenburg and their younger son Duke Michael were special guests and sponsors for the ‘Peace for Iraq’ event in the Netherlands.
The event which included a concert, poetry readings and speeches was held at the Dakota Theatre in The Hague. The fundraiser which was supported by the International Red Cross and United Nations was held to provide support to Iraqi citizens who have been displaced by the ongoing violence in the country.
In addition to the Grand Ducal Family the Colombian Ambassador to the Netherlands and members of the Diplomat Magazine were also among the special guests in attendance.
Among the notable Iraqi singers and musicians present at the event were Mamun Alnattah, Nadeen, Farida, Mohammad Gomar and Mustafa Al-Ammar who is also a UNESCO Peace Ambassador.
