The seasonal opening of the Queen Luise of Prussia memorial at Schloss Hohenzieritz, former summer residence of the grand ducal family, took place at 10am today. The memorial which was created in 1813 is dedicated to Duchess Luise, daughter of Grand Duke Carl and wife of King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia, who died at the residence in 1810.
The speaker at this year’s opening ceremony was Dr Rajko Lippert who talked about the grand ducal houses ties to Imperial Russia. Guests at the ceremony were also treated to a gala concert by the “Salon-Orchester Konigin Luise”.
