There are close ties between the Princely Family of Hohenzollern and the Grand Ducal Family. In 1945 the late Prince Johann Georg’s mother Princess Margarete invited the Grand Ducal Family, who had lost two homes during World War II, to Sigmaringen where they were provided with accommodation in Hohenzollern family residences. His Highness Duke Carl Gregor who married Princess Maria Margarethe of Hohenzollern, a cousin of Prince Johann Georg, today still lives in a Hohenzollern family residence.
