On Sunday 24 July in San Antonio, Texas, His Highness Hereditary Prince Alexander was inducted into the Spain Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) by Judge Ed Butler, President General (2009-2010). His Highness Duke Borwin was also inducted in absentia. The Duke and Hereditary Prince are descendants of King Carlos III of Spain who was on the throne at the time of the American revolution and provided support to the revolutionaries. Other notable members of the society are the King of Spain and his son the Prince of Asturias. During the ceremony the Hereditary Prince was presented with the SAR Silver Good Citizenship Medal, SAR challenge coins and a copy of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence from May, 1775.
The following day, Monday 25 July, the Hereditary Prince attended a dinner at the Headliner’s Club where Brigadier General Robert Bodisch, on behalf of the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, appointed the Hereditary Prince an Admiral in the Texas Navy.
