A large portrait of Grand Duke Georg has recently gone on display in Neustrelitz at the Kulturquartier Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
The portrait was handed over to the Kulturquartier in April by HH The Duke of Mecklenburg who has acquired it from HSH Prince Ernst August of Lippe.
The portrait which is belived to date from around 1880 has been passed down through the generations amongst the descendants of Grand Duke Georg’s elder son Grand Duke Friedrich Wilhelm to Prince Ernst August of Lippe.
The Duke and Prince Ernst August are both great great great grand children of Grand Duke Georg.
